FAQs
What are some of the best ways to take the blend?
First note that you can enjoy the blend with water, coconut water or juice of choice such as apple, pineapple, orange, etc. Customers always report how much they love it with their favourite juice, and that it is very easy to consume this way! Others are happy to have it in water alone, and get it down the hatch!
Some of the most popular ways to consume The Mother’s Blend and The Children’s Blend include:
- Simply Stir Method - add serving to a glass, add water and stir. A hot tip if you are a little fussier with taste, opt for juice or coconut water instead of water (apple, pineapple, orange, etc). Bear in mind, using this method may not create a smooth and fully emulsified drink, so please use the below methods to help fully emulsify the powder into a liquid.
- The Paste Method – add serving to a glass and add a tiny bit of water or juice to mix into a paste. This will help fully emulsify the powder (as we don’t add any emulsifiers to our products), then slowly add more water and mix. This method should fully emulsify the powder into a drinkable liquid.
- The Shaker Method – add serving and liquid to a jar or a Foraged shaker and shake until fully emulsified.
- The Whizzy Stick – add serving to a glass and use a whizzy stick to blend. With water, juice, whatever you choose!
- The Foraged Choccy Milkshake – blitz the blend with milk of your choice, grass-fed collagen, cacao and a few drops of monk fruit. Here is a must follow recipe for you here that uses a frozen banana, or here, that keeps it very basic.
- Foraged Gummies – the perfect nourishing snack! Recipes here and here!
- Yoghurt – Add to unsweetened yoghurt with berries and/or other fruit.
Wait, there's more..
- The Foraged hot (warm) chocolate – combine the blend with your milk of choice, grass-fed gelatin, cacao, ghee/butter or coconut oil, vanilla essence, monk fruit or maple syrup, in a saucepan and heat. Avoid over-heating to preserve the probiotics! Recipe here.
- The blitzed method – add serving and liquid to a blender and blitz for a few seconds to emulsify into the consistency of a juice.
- Add to a smoothie or smoothie bowl of your choice – pairs great with foods like strawberry, blueberry, banana, yoghurt or coconut products, grass-fed collagen powder, cucumber, zucchini, etc.
- Foraged gummies – the perfect nourishing snack! Recipes here and here!
- Chia berry jam – the best way to spike pancakes with extra nutrients. Recipe here.
- Porridge – sprinkle on top of semi-cooled (not piping hot) porridge and mix in.
- Ice cream or icy poles – fancy and usually a huge hit! Recipes here and here.
- If the powder is not for you, or perhaps you are a bit nauseous or avoiding specific tasting foods currently, we offer The Mother’s Blend in capsules for your convenience.
What does it taste like?
The most prominent flavour in the blend is beetroot. You will get hints of the other ingredients in the blend as well, creating an earthy flavour for some. The product was purposefully created with no artificial colours and sweeteners. One of the many reasons for this was because we believe if you are consuming something, taste is all part of the natural process! Having a bubble-gum flavoured powder is so far from the natural taste of foods, which is why we love that our blend is the perfect balance of delicious beetroot, earthy, REAL foods, the way nature intended.
What time of the day is best to consume it?
There is no right or wrong here! The best time to take the blend is the time that suits your lifestyle the most.
Do you have a nutrient breakdown?
Yes, we have had required nutrient testing done on the product that can be found in the nutrition panel on the back of the jar and within the images on the individual product pages. Find The Mother’s Blend nutrient panel here, and the capsules here.
Please keep in mind that all of these nutrients are 100% from food!
If you don’t see the nutrient you are curious about, this is to display a nutrient on the website or packaging, this creates a ‘nutrient claim’, which is only possible to do if a serve of the product contains a certain percentage of the RDI of this specific nutrient, so some nutrients present are not able to be displayed.
Where is it made? And where do the ingredients come from?
Foraged For You products are manufactured in a facility on the Sunshine Coast Australia. Ingredients are sourced from parts of the world they originate from or we have found to be of fantastic quality. We always source our ingredients from the highest quality locations that we can possibly find.
Is The Mothers Blend suitable for pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Yes, The Mother's Blend is suitable for pregnancy and breastfeeding. The Mother's Blend is a purely food-based product.
Any individual health advice regarding pregnancy, breastfeeding or your unique nutritional status must be discussed with your preferred health professional.
Is The Mothers Blend all I need before, during and after my pregnancy?
No once-a-day serve of anything will provide you absolutely everything you need on this journey, Foraged included!
You may have personal nutrient deficiencies that need more careful nurturing, but everyone should consume an abundance of real foods throughout this time, The Mother's Blend was created to support this dietary element.
It is recommended to discuss your individual requirements with your trusted practitioner to ensure you are meeting your nutrient RDIs for things like folate, choline, etc, to have a healthy pregnancy and bub.
Is the blend only suitable for Mothers and Prenatal women?
No! Whilst the ingredients have been included in amounts that are safe to those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, ultimately The Mother’s Blend is FOOD! There is nothing about The Mother’s Blend that is only for women to consume. It can be a valuable addition to anyone that tolerates the ingredients, including men!
Is The Mothers Blend high in histamine?
The Mothers Blend has been tested and is considered ‘low histamine’. The fermentation process is in a controlled environment rather than being a ‘wild ferment’, which also makes for a lower histamine product. Everyone is different, but so far those sensitive to histamines have tolerated the blend well.
What’s the difference between taking The Mothers Blend powder vs the capsules?
For us to be able to fit the regular serving size into capsules, we had to remove the beetroot juice powder, and the stevia was also removed due to not needing a sweetener inside capsules.
Without these two ingredients, we were able to fit The Mother’s Blend serving into 8 capsules (depending on how many you would like to take). Besides this minor adjustment, the rest of the ingredients and nutrients were kept the same (kelp, beef liver, fermented greens, camu camu, etc).
Because of this, if you are taking the capsule option we do recommend including plenty of beetroot in your diet, or adding beetroot juice powder into your day where possible due to the nutritional profile it offers and the way it acts as a synergist for the other ingredients found in the blend.

How do the overall nutrient levels of The Children’s Blend differ from The Mother’s Blend?
The blends slightly differ in their nutrient levels. This is of course due to our children having much smaller bodies than us, but also their growing bodies tend to require different nutrients depending on their development stage. We had this in mind when creating The Children’s Blend, to ensure the serving size was suitable for little ones.
In regards to specific ingredients in comparison to The Mother's Blend, the kelp content was reduced, the camu camu and beetroot juice was increased, and elderberry and chamomile were added.
What form of magnesium is present in The Ocean’s Magnesium? And do you have more information about the pure sea mineral powder you use?
The Ocean's Magnesium contains a sea mineral powder, which is pure dehydrated concentrated sea water. Magnesium found this way in nature is ionic, meaning it is a positively charged ion that is readily absorbed and used by the body.
The reason the minerals remain ionic, even in this powder form, is because of the drying process used - no heat treating or irradiating is used. The minerals are spray dried, which means to blow air through a giant tunnel. In this process, there still remains what are called the "waters of hydration" which is water retained within the crystal structure of the mineral. This is what allows the minerals to remain in ionic form, and 100% soluble when added to water.
So technically speaking, the form of magnesium would suggest magnesium chloride as this is what it is in the ocean. However, the level of magnesium listed on the jar is elemental, so the amount your body will be receiving in a serve. Due to the sea minerals naturally containing chloride, this allows the magnesium to be readily absorbed into cells in higher amounts, because chloride is used abundantly by the body as an electrolyte.
For context, other more natural magnesium supplements that use marine magnesium, but they actually then isolate the magnesium from the sea water using calcium hydroxide to form magnesium hydroxide, derived from sea water. Hydroxide has been added to form magnesium hydroxide. We haven’t removed/isolated the magnesium from the sea water, nor have we added chloride to make it magnesium chloride, we have taken it exactly how it is found in nature's sea water and dehydrated it in a way that allows all the minerals (magnesium, sodium, chloride, etc) to stay in their ionic form.
Aside from the pure sea mineral powder, why did you choose the other ingredients? Do you have more information about the sea lettuce and red marine algae?
Sea lettuce (Ulva lactuca) is a green seaweed species and as the name suggests, resembles small lettuce leaves and can be eaten in a similar fashion to salad greens. This particular sea lettuce contains more magnesium than most sea vegetables and has been harvested from organically certified areas in the northern Gulf of Maine, far away from any major urban centres, hand-plucked from rocks of the Atlantic Ocean and made into a fine powder. The sea lettuce also contains small amounts of iodine, precisely 4300ug per 100g, amounting to 43ug per 6 capsule serve of The Ocean’s Magnesium.
The red marine algae (Lithothamnion calcareum), after years of thriving in the mineral-rich Atlantic sea, naturally calcifies on the North Atlantic seabed. From here it is safely and sustainably harvested and processed in order to maintain its mineral content. Not only does it contain a spectrum of minerals, but it has proven to be one of nature’s richest sources of calcium.
What is the recommended serving size?
6 capsules is the recommended serving to achieve the nutrient levels listed on the nutrition panel. However, depending on the season you are in, you may want more or less.
For example, 2 capsules will provide 127mg magnesium, and 4 capsules will provide 254mg magnesium, which are both still lovely serves of magnesium.
Please consult your health professional if you need further guidance around your magnesium intake.
What is the best way to consume the capsules?
Capsules can be consumed whole with a glass of water or juice. We recommend a decent amount of liquid to ensure the capsules travel all the way down your digestive tract. Some prefer to consume with food which is a personal preference, not required.
Capsules can be opened and contents consumed how you wish like in a glass of water (however, the taste is potent!). If you’re adding to food, it must be diluted or mixed through something i.e. blended through bliss balls, smoothies, or gummies. Start with a small amount to taste-test - the sea lettuce is very pungent!
Is The Ocean’s Magnesium suitable for pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Yes, magnesium is suitable for pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The perk about The Ocean’s Magnesium compared to other magnesium products on the market, is it is made using only natural sources of magnesium and contains no synthetics, preservatives and fillers.
Is The Ocean’s Magnesium free from synthetic materials?
Yes, there are no synthetics used in its production. It is free from artificial colours, flavours, synthetics or preservatives, and made with all non-GMO ingredients.
Is there an allergen risk due to the sea lettuce?
Marine lettuce cannot be guaranteed free of incidental mollusk or crustacean residue.
What would be some common reasons as to why people would consume The Ocean’s Magnesium?
Due to the magnesium and calcium content in The Ocean’s Magnesium, when consumed alongside a healthy and diverse diet, it may be useful for…
- Optimising magnesium and calcium levels
- Healthy electrolyte balance
- Normal energy metabolism
- Reduction in tiredness and fatigue
- Promoting relaxation, sleep and healthy stress response
- Normal nerve and muscle function
- Normal psychological function
- Supporting teeth and bone structure
Do you recommend any specific way to store the product to support its longevity?
- Store in a cool, dry place below 25*C and always ensure the lid is tightly closed after use. This is crucial!
- If living in a humid area, you may like to store the jar in the fridge.
- Always keep the two desiccant (moisture absorbent sachet) in the jar.
- Once opened, please consume within 2-3 months, otherwise please store in the fridge or freezer so humidity does not get to it.
What form of zinc is present in Wild Zinc?
In oysters, the form of zinc found is primarily “organic zinc” bound to proteins and amino acids, especially as part of metallothionein - small, cysteine-rich proteins that tightly bind metal ions such as zinc. The zinc is typically still in this naturally chelated form (zinc organically bound to peptides or amino acids), not isolated or synthetically bound like supplements containing zinc sulfate, zinc gluconate, zinc citrate, etc. This natural form facilitates zinc storage and detoxification within oyster tissues, contributing to oysters being one of the richest natural sources of natural, bioavailable zinc. It is how zinc is found in nature bound to organic molecules (like amino acids), which enhance bioavailability, meaning it’s easily absorbed by the human body. This may be one reason people find oyster-derived zinc to be gentle but mighty, even at lower amounts.
In guava leaves, the zinc present is referred to as “plant-derived ionic” or also “organically bound” form, naturally chelated to amino acids (like histidine or cysteine), organic acids (like citric or malic), but particularly plant polyphenols such as flavonoids. The presence of naturally occurring antioxidant co-factors help transport and store zinc within the plant and enhance the potential of the zinc. The synergy of zinc with these phytonutrients is part of what makes guava leaf a valued botanical in traditional and modern herbal medicine.
In summary, while both oysters and guava leaves contain zinc, the mineral is naturally bound to different compounds to support zinc storage within each source: predominately metallothioneins in oysters and organic molecules such as polyphenols in guava leaves.
Where are the oysters sourced from?
We use oysters that are fished sustainably off the west coast of Ireland, where they use a combination of traditional fishing techniques, small scale artisan fishers, one man per boat, and hand picking/harvesting in the summer months. These oysters occur wild in these waters. You may be thinking of the tiny oysters we get at a cocktail bar… But these oysters are HUGE!
Ireland has a unique geology, sitting on one of the largest underground zinc reserves in the world. As such, these coastal waters are rich in zinc which the oysters can metabolise into organic zinc with associated nutritional co-factors, making these oysters very nutritious.
What makes your oyster product more superior compared to other oyster products out there?
We quite literally searched the globe for the best quality product that we could find, from a supplier that we trust. One that uses no fillers, and has regular nutritional and contaminant testing for every batch that they produce (and we also test every batch upon arrival too). Our oyster powder comes from the pristine waters of the Irish coast, where oysters are wild and extra large.
The other perk of Wild Zinc is it not only contains oyster, it contains guava leaf. The guava leaf extract we use contains more zinc than oyster, but we know that excess of one nutrient without the beautiful nutritional cofactors present to support its metabolism can then go on to deplete other nutrients. This is why we have paired it with the oyster, because oyster is not only a source of zinc itself but also contains the nutritional cofactors surrounding zinc in nature, to support proper zinc absorption and metabolism making these two ingredients a dream duo from both land and sea.
What would be some common reasons as to why people would consume Wild Zinc?
When consumed as part of a balanced and varied wholefoods diet, Wild Zinc may support…
- Optimising zinc levels
- Normal immune system function
- Normal growth and development
- Normal energy metabolism
- Normal skin structure and wound healing
- Normal cognitive function
- Normal carbohydrate and fatty acid metabolism
- Normal protein synthesis
- Normal cell division
- Normal fertility and reproduction
- The maintenance of optimal testosterone levels in blood
- The maintenance of normal bones, hair and nails
- Protection from free radicals

If you’re adding to food, it must be diluted or mixed through something i.e. blended through bliss balls, smoothies, or gummies. Start with a small amount to taste-test - the sea lettuce is very pungent!
